The short answer
A professionally built small-business website costs £1,450–£7,950 with us, fixed. Most established businesses land at £2,450 (custom design) or £4,450 (conversion-focused with per-page SEO). Every price is published, agreed before work starts, and doesn't move unless the scope does.
For market context: in GoodFirms' agency survey, the majority of agencies price fixed website projects between $1,000 and $15,000, and UK-focused guides typically quote £500–£10,000+ depending on scope. The range is real — but a range isn't a price. The rest of this article is about what moves the number.
Why quotes vary so wildly
- Template vs custom. A themed template site can be cheap because most of the work is configuration. Custom design costs more because someone is actually designing — from your brand, for your customers.
- What the site must do. Brochure pages, lead generation with tracked conversions, content management, integrations with your booking or CRM systems — each is a different build.
- Who's building. A freelancer's overhead and an agency's overhead are different numbers before any work happens.
- Hourly vs fixed. Hourly quotes start low and grow. Fixed quotes force the scope conversation up front — which is exactly where it belongs.
What each of our tiers buys

The costs nobody mentions up front
An honest budget includes what happens after launch:
- Hosting and care. Every site needs hosting, updates, backups and security. Our care plans run from £65/mo — or self-manage for £0 if you're comfortable doing it yourself. Either is fine; pretending the cost doesn't exist isn't.
- Your domain. Typically £10–£30/yr, paid to your registrar, owned by you. Be wary of anyone who registers it in their name.
- Content. Words and photography aren't free even when they're "free" — someone spends time producing them. Budget it or reuse what you have (that's what our Build tier is designed around).
- Integrations. Bookings, payments, CRMs — priced separately and transparently on our integrations menu from £450, with two already included in the Business tier.
Do you even need a custom site?
Honestly: not always. If you need a simple online presence this month and have more time than budget, Squarespace or Wix will get you live for tens of pounds a month, and that's a legitimate choice. A custom build starts paying for itself when the site has a job — ranking for the searches your customers make, converting visitors into enquiries, loading fast enough that people stay, and integrating with how you actually operate. That's the difference between a site that exists and a site that earns its keep.
Questions we hear a lot
Does the price include hosting?
The build price is one-off and doesn't lock you into hosting. After launch you can self-manage for £0 or take a care plan from £65/mo covering hosting, backups, security updates and content edits. Your site, your choice.
How long does a website take to build?
Our Build tier goes live in 2–3 weeks, Launch in 3–4 weeks, and larger sites are scoped with a fixed timeline before we start. The schedule is agreed alongside the price, so neither surprises you.
What about redesigning an existing website?
A redesign is scoped like a new build against the same tiers — often at Launch or Business level, since your content and brand already exist. We handle redirects and search indexing in the migration so you don't lose rankings you've already earned.
